Where Do Femboys and the Men Who Like Them Meet?
October 15, 2026
You open a dating app, get to the gender question and stall. Man, woman, non-binary. None of the boxes quite fits the person you are, or the person you’re hoping to meet.
It’s a surprisingly common headache. On Reddit, we spotted someone asking femboys which gender marker they pick, just so they wouldn’t get filtered out by accident.
So where do femboys and their admirers find each other? Here at Male Encounters we run a femboy dating space for exactly this, but it’s far from the only option. Here’s where to look, and how to make it go well once you’re there.
Why it’s trickier than it should be
Part of the problem is the filters. Most apps were built for a world where everyone ticks one of two boxes and dates in one direction.
The other part is attitude. “Masc only” and “no fems” profiles have been part of gay dating for years. They put a lot of feminine men off before they’ve even said hello.
That isn’t just a feeling. A 2016 study published in Computers in Human Behavior looked at how “masculine guys only” profiles affect the way men who date men choose partners.
Then there’s the opposite problem. Some men chase femboys as a fantasy, which makes plenty of femboys wary of anyone who messages them too keenly.
None of that means you can’t find each other. It just means it pays to look in the right places.
1. A dating community that names it
The easiest way round the filter problem is to use a space that’s built around it.
On a dedicated femboy dating community, nobody has to explain themselves in the first message. The femboys know they’re wanted for who they are, and the men who admire them don’t have to wonder if they’re welcome.
That’s the thinking behind femboy dating on Male Encounters, alongside our wider gay dating community.
2. Queer club nights and drag shows
Drag nights, cabaret and queer club nights tend to be the friendliest rooms for anyone who plays with gender. Nobody blinks at a skirt, and a sequinned crop top counts as dressing down.
Big cities have the most choice, but plenty of towns have a monthly night above a pub or at a local arts venue. If you’re in the capital, our guide to finding your scene in London is a good place to start.
Nervous about turning up on your own? Our guide to going out alone on the gay scene has you covered, and it’s easier than you think.
3. Pride, big and small
Pride season brings everyone out in their best outfits. That makes it one of the easiest times of year to meet people who share your style.
Don’t overlook the smaller local Prides either. They’re friendlier, less crowded and you’ll often bump into the same faces at the after-party.
4. Adult social groups and LGBTQ+ meet-ups
Not everyone wants to meet over a thumping bassline. LGBTQ+ running clubs, choirs, walking groups, book clubs and sports teams for adults are a lovely, low-pressure way to get to know people.
You meet someone doing something you both enjoy. If sparks fly, there’s no awkward opening line to worry about.
5. Friends of friends
It’s old-fashioned, but it works. Once your friends know who you’re hoping to meet, they often turn out to know someone.
A mutual friend vouching for you counts for a lot, especially with someone who’s had their share of time-wasters.
Writing a profile that finds the right people
Wherever you’re looking online, your profile does the first bit of filtering for you.
If you’re a femboy, say so in your bio. Use photos that show the version of you that you’d like people to meet. Say what you’re after, whether that’s a boyfriend, a few dates or a new friend.
If you’re an admirer, show there’s a person behind the preference. Mention your interests and what you’d like to do on a date. Skip lines like “looking for my femboy”, which read more like a shopping list than an invitation.
Be clear about what you want. It saves everyone time, and it’s the quickest way to stand out from the vague profiles.
Making the first date a good one
You’ve matched, you’ve chatted and you’ve agreed to meet. Lovely. Now pick somewhere you’ll both enjoy.
A queer-friendly bar, a relaxed café or an exhibition gives you something to talk about and somewhere you both feel at ease. If one of you is newer to being out, ask what would feel good rather than guessing.
On the night, talk about the things you’d talk about with anyone. Work, friends, the last thing that made you laugh. Compliments are welcome, but let them be about more than the outfit.
Most of all, be the same person you were in the messages. Nothing builds trust faster than turning up exactly as promised.
Spotting the chasers and staying safe
Most people you’ll meet are lovely. A few aren’t, and the signs tend to show early.
Be wary if the chat turns sexual within a few messages, or if someone only ever talks about your body and clothes.
Watch out for anyone who only wants to meet in secret or never in public.
Notice if someone brushes off your boundaries in small ways, such as pushing for photos you’ve said no to.
For first dates, meet somewhere public, tell a friend where you’ll be and consider a quick video call beforehand. If anything feels off, you’re allowed to leave.
Apps and bars not for you at all? Some men skip both and arrange a discreet meeting with one of our verified femboy escorts.
The short version
Femboys and their admirers meet at queer club nights and Pride, through adult social groups and friends, and on dating sites that welcome them.
Pick spaces that name what you’re looking for. Write a profile that shows the person, not just the preference, and keep your wits about you on first dates.
